Life is a learning curve at most

We I had received word from my mom that the SACTWU ( Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers Union) had processed and accepted my bursary application I was glee and more-so grateful to the Almighty God that he had provided me a way to fund my studies. Receiving this bursary had its attachment to it – it requested that I register with the Sactwu Students Union and on top of that all – commit myself to 50 hours of community service !! WITH NO DOUBT I WAS READY TO TAKE ON THAT CHALLENGE!

I had made my decision to have Dr I Jardine certify that I had done my community service long before I had even received the bursary under the Aids Army Inlt organization. He had agree to do that for me but that idea of further contributing extra hours lingered and that’s when I made a conscious decision that I am going to volunteer my service to a shelter for rescued dogs and cats that goes by the name of F.O.R.A ( Friends Of Rescued Animals). Here I was, wish to believe going against most stereotypical norms – “A black man with dogs and cats never mix !” When I first had told my mom, she was outraged – talking about all types of diseases and vaccination – of which I still believe that some of them she has no clue of their importance nor significance – but I was dead set to prove a point to my family and more-so lend a helping hand to those who need it the most !!

Due to time constraint – my work had lasted four an awesome four days and I have to say it was one of the best four days spent. The outcome of the time spent at Westgate – F.O.R.A – far exceeded my imagination. I had made new friends whom walk in two, three and four legs, spent great furry hours with furry cats – ran around the yard with the dogs that no ‘normal’ person would want to have as a pet ( my friends suggestion). For once those animals spent some few of the days hours not worrying to whom will adopt them – we just had undisclosed amounts of fun because when a number of more than 200 dogs are dead tired from roaming around in pure excitement – they have must burnt a great deal of energy.

Wow – From Monday up until Thursday – from 11 am up until 4 pm – I had the purest and most fun though exhausting but it was worth it at the end of the day. I thank F.O.R.A. for being the organization that they are for we need people of such caliber in this world! To all the hard workers there, all the cats and dogs and most specially Breggie and Betty – May God Bless that establishment !
